Bowtie Key Inlays (No Jigs)
Просмотров 6 тыс.6 лет назад
This is how I make and inlay bowtie (butterfly) keys. I recommend this method to those who don’t do it often enough to make or buy jigs. You’ll need your tools, a sharp pencil, steady hands, and good eyes. It's really not hard. Be sure to chamfer the bottom edges of your bowtie to make the fit a little easier and mix the router sawdust into the glue to help hide any imperfections. Hope this hel...

Scrap Bin from a Single Sheet of Plywood
Просмотров 23 тыс.7 лет назад
I made this plan to help organize my shop in a cost-effective way. This design requires one sheet of 3/4" ply, a circular saw, and a drill. A Kreg Accu-Cut and Kreg Jig are not required, but they do add some nice accuracy and speed. For any questions that may not have been answered in the video, see my full step by step plans and detailed cut/drill diagram on Build Something. The link can be fo...

Shop Vac Sound Reduction Cabinets
Просмотров 20 тыс.7 лет назад
A brief overview of my two shop vac silencing cabinets. These do not reduce the sound by an insane amount, but they do bring the decibels down to comfortable level. They have both exceeded my expectations and I have been very happy with each. NOTE: there are several 1" holes drilled into each cabinet to allow airflow. These cabinets are not air tight. If they were, your vac would probably overh...

The author does like to from scratch, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.

If you add 2nd 7 1/4 x 13 piece to the open end of the jig you could then use a feather board to keep the jig stable to the table saw fence good presentation I would glue the V together as well as screw then to protect my $90 saw blades I would remove the screws the next day. As long as the sides are screwed to the 90 degree V you can easily replace the working portion of the jig when running out of zero cut spots on the jig

The first half of the ruclips.net/user/postUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.
